Our aim is to spread knowledge of the life, work, and times of Herschel and his family, and to encourage greater understanding today of the subjects he studied.
We do this in several ways:
We always welcome new members. You can join online now using our subscriptions partner member mojo or download and ccomplete an Application Form and post it to us. The Application Form for membership is here. If you are a UK tax payer, you can optionally Gift Aid your membership subscription if you wish. Payment of the membership subscription fee can be via PayPal or credit card, Banker’s Order, bank transfer (BACS), cheque or cash.
For many, including the Society, the most effective and efficient way of paying your membership subscription is by Banker’s Order Order or regular bank transfer (BACS). If not using an annual scheduled payment such as Banker’s Order, you will be sent a reminder by email in good time to renew. You may pay for more than one year at a time if you wish. If you do, please make it clear that you are paying extra subscriptions, rather than including a donation. Overseas members in particular are encouraged to pay for more than one year at a time to save themselves and us costs and effort.
Non-UK members are encouraged to use PayPal (recipient is email@example.com), debit or credit cards for subscription payment. It is possible to send currency (notes only and preferably sterling). Non-UK cheques will need to include an uplift of £5.00 to cover the bank charge for processing.
See here to check the status of your membership
The Society is naturally very happy to receive donations at any time! Any amount sent to us over and above your subscription will be treated as a donation (but see above). If you are a UK taxpayer you can increase the value of your subscription by 25% by signing the Gift Aid Declaration Form.
